All of us know that situation, GSM is ringing and if we look at our your GSM-display, there is written “Unknown caller ID”.

So what to do, who is the caller? Why the caller is hiding his identity? In most of these cases, the caller turns out to be a salesperson who want to sell certain goods you’ll never need. Seldom but with raising posibility you’ll be the victim of a stalker, permanently calling you, again and again. The solution is closer than you maybe think…Assuming that you have a Android G1 GSM it becomes easy up from now on. I have developed an application which will take care of calls with “unknown caller ID”. Unfortunatly Google won’t allow us to directly reject an incomming call programatically. But there is a solution. The nifty little application NoStalk V1.4 will just turn your GSM absolutly quiet if a call with “unknown caller ID” will come to your Android G1 GSM. After the caller dropped the line or (if you configured your GSM that way) is forwarded to your VoiceBox, your GSM will turn back to normal ringing Mode. By that you won’t miss a caller which will call you with a “known caller ID”. In other words, your’e reachable again.

So equal if you are followed by a stalker calling you again and again, or if you often receive calls from salespersons with “unkown caller ID”,
Up from now on, with NoStalk V1.4, your Android GSM will stay quiet if someone with suppressed caller ID will give you a call. You can download the application on the android market.

Some Information:

The application is completly written in java, making usage of the public Android SDK features. it consists out of two class files and some configuration files. The application makes use of a feature in Android called “Service” which means, the application, once started will completly run in background, let you do your normal business. At Starting time, the application will save your preferred settings regarding sound and vibration. Once turned quiet because of a “stalking call” it will revert to exactly your preferences if the unwanted caller drops the line.

Besides, the application is now capable of multilingual features. This in fact means, all visible parts of the application can be translated to other languages. As of now the application has, starting with NoStalk V1.3, two languages build in. English as the standard language and German as second availiable language. Switching the language happens absolutley automaticly according to the region/language settings you have on your GSM. If your current language is not availiable, NoStalk V1.4 (and above) will be displayed in English.

The actual NoStalk v 1.4 has been written and compiled against Android SDK V1.5_r3

Wie ich im Telefonshop meines Vertrauens erfahren konnte ist es gar nicht so
einfach zu einem Handy ein passendes Headset zu finden. Der Verkäufer machte
angesichts des G1 ein ziemlich betroffenes Gesicht. Scheinbar dürfte in den
Telefonshops türkischer Herkunft das G1 aufgrund geringer Nutzung nicht
sehr beliebt sein. Die Leutz kennen sich schlicht nicht aus damit.

Das dritte Headset welches wir dann gemeinsam ausprobierten funktionierte auf Anhieb.

Dieses Headset war von der Firma Logitech und nennt sich “Mobile Traveller Headset”. Die genaue
Typenbezeichnung dieses Headsets ist HS03 V04.

Das Pairing des Headsets mit dem Handy funktioniert absolut reibungslos und auf
Anhieb. Man schaltet am G1 das Bluetooth auf on, aktiviert durch 8 Sek. langes drücken
der Multifunktionstaste am Headset dieses auf “active Pairing” und schwups wird das
Headset vom G1 erkannt. Angezeigt wird dies als “Gepaart, jedoch nicht verbunden.”

Nun drückt man am Headset noch einmal kurz die Multifunktionstaste und schon ist das
Headset auch mit dem G1 verbunden.  Die Eingabe eines Pairing Passwortes war nicht notwendig beim Pairing mit dem G1, wenngleich das Headset dies theoretisch anbietet und an einem anderen Handy auch erforderlich machte.
Danach kann man folgende Funktionen mit dem Headset ausführen:

Anruf annehmen
Anruf beenden
Anruf ablehnen
Wahlwiederholung
Klingelton im Headset lauter/leiser stellen (wird am G1 mit einem gelben Balken als Feedback angezeigt.)
Hörerlautstärke lauter/leiser stellen.

Mehr Funktionen scheint das G1 zur Zeit einfach noch nicht zu unterstützen.
Das Headset selber bietet noch eine Reihe von Funktionen mehr an, wie bspw.
Nachtmodus aktivieren/deaktivieren
Stimmwahl
Stummschaltung
Sowie einige weitere 3-Wege Funktionen für  Mehrfachgespäche.
Alle diese Funktionen konnte ich aber am G1 noch nicht aktivieren.

Das Headset selber besteht aus einem gummierten Bügel der über das Ohr gelegt werden kann und sowohl für Links als auch Rechts-Träger geeignet ist. Die Stellung des Headsets ist dabei frei und gut haltend einstellbar. Einmal am Ohr hat das ganze durch die angenehme Gummierung und flexibilität des Bügels einen sicheren Halt am Ohr. Nach kurzer Zeit merkt man es gar nicht mehr.
Am Headset selber gibt es 2 Knöpfe, von denen einer geteilt ist (hinten lauter, vorne leiser). Der lange Multifunktionsknopf darunter ist einwandfrei tastbar und leicht zu bedienen. In ihm verbirgt sich auch noch eine kleine LED welche mit verschiedenen Farben und Blinksequenzen über die verschiedenen Stati  des Headsets Auskunft gibt. (Batterie bald alle, wird geladen, aufrechte Verbindung usw.)
Das Mikro des Headsets ist mit einem Windabsorber versehen der seinen Dienst tut und Wind wirklich gut wegfiltert. Der Hörer ist durch ein angenehmen Schaumstoff angenehm am Ohr und liefert einen sauberen und ausreichend lauten Ton.
Die Sprachqualität des Headsetmikrofons ist herausragend. Einige Bekannte von mir haben andere Headsets, deren Mikrofon jedoch lange nicht an die Qualität dieses Logitech heranreicht. Alle Bekannten bestätigten mir eine sehr gute Sprachqualität , selbst wenn ich sehr leise gesprochen habe. Ein Anheben der Stimme bzw. lautes Sprechen ergab keinerlei Kompressionsartefakte bei der Übertragung und schmälerte die Qualität in keinster Weise.
Die Reichweite des Headsets beginnt bei etwa 8 Metern zu enden. Da beginnt es dann zunächst im eigenen Hören ziemlich zu krachen. Erst danach fängt das auch beim Angerufenen an.
In so fern kann das Gerät als absolut gelungen betrachtet werden und ich kann es nur empfehlen.
Der Strassenpreis des Geräts liegt zwischen 35 und 80 Euro. Ich habe beim Händler meines Vertrauens 30 Euro für das Ding berappt und billiger hab ich es nirgends gefunden.

Alles in allem bin ich sehr zufrieden mit dem Gerät.
